The First Touch Screen GoPhone
The earliest models of prepaid phones were comparatively basic compared to other cell phones, but more recent ATT pre paid phones have become surprisingly more sophisticated. A good example of this is the LG Prime, an ATT go phone that was the first in its class to offer touch-screen capabilities. It has also been equipped with a 2-megapixel camera, along with an mp3 player. With the LG Prime, you can even check your email. Not bad for a phone that you can purchase for less than $100 without an AT&T contract.
The Touch Screen
The first thing you'll notice is the huge 3-inch screen. It can display an impressive 262 thousand colors in 400x240-pixel resolution. You can't help but marvel at the display as it shows the details in the icons and the bright menu interface. Most of these display details, such as brightness or font size, are adjustable to suit your preferences.
The touch screen is resistive, which means that you may need to exert a bit more pressure when tapping the screen. The accuracy, however can be improved after you enable the calibration wizard. Also, you can to hear and feel feedback from the phone to confirm that your taps have been registered by the screen.
Your home screen can be customized by using the widgets tray under the display. You can pick or even all eight of the widgets to display on your screen. In addition, shortcuts for the the main menu, the messaging inbox, the phone dialer, and the phone book can be found at the bottom of the display.
Activating the phone dialer will show you the spacious virtual keypad. You will also see the shortscuts to other common functions. If you wish to create a new text message, the screen will immediately show a virtual QWERTY keyboard in landscape view. Like its keypad counterpart, the virtual keyboard si positively roomy. You can also choose to revert to a keypad mode if you wish to use that for your text messaging.
Overall Design
The design of the LG Prime is suitably classic, a basic rectangle with the edges slightly curved for a better grip. It is a bit chubby when viewed from the side (it measures half an inch thick), but despite that it only weighs in at a little over 3 ounces. The simplicity of the shape simply emphasizes the large 3-inch screen.
Additional features
It does feel a little strange to use the actual keys once you've gotten used to the touch screen. The keys are reserved for sending deleting and for power functions. Along the sides
After you've gotten over your fascination with the screen, you probably get around to notice that it can play mp3 songs, has a 2-megapixel camera, and you can even use the LG Prime to check your email. In fact, with this phone you can access websites such as Twitter and Facebook, as well as the AT&T Mobile Music service. These prepaid phones have come a long way, indeed.
